The Rally Drivers’ Ball on Saturday 6th
September at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel is set
to be a night you’ll never forget!
Join us for a delicious three-course meal
prepared by the excellent chefs at the
Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa in Clayton-le-
Moors, near Blackburn, Lancashire.
There’s a packed schedule of fantastic
entertainment and activities during the day,
but the excitement doesn’t end when the
sun goes down.
Part of the Dunkenhalgh will be
transformed into Las Vegas for the night,
with casino tables and croupiers on hand
to teach guests how to test their wits on a
range of classic card games.

Route:
Setting off from Clayton-le-Moors and travelling a circular route
encompassing the spectacular Trough of Bowland
Cost:
£30 when bringing a minimum of £50 sponsorship or free entry with
sponsorship of £100 or above.
This epic 60-mile circular bike ride will set off from 10am on the morning
of 6th September 2014 from the Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa in Clayton-le-
Moors, near Blackburn in Lancashire.
After embarking on the challenge, cyclists will ride to the Trough of Bowland
through the course of the day, taking in one of the most famous motoring
roads in Lancashire.
This world famous road has been a favourite of cyclists and rally car
enthusiasts for decades, and forms part of a route which includes a
challenging 4,000 metre climb. The bike ride has been organised by Craig
Thorley, formerly an award-winning co-driver who is well known in the
racing world and has a passion for fitness. He’s the perfect motivator to keep
pedals turning during this exciting challenge!
At 11.30am, around 25 historic
cars of various makes, models
and ages will set off in spectacular
convoy from the Dunkenhalgh
Hotel & Spa in Clayton-le-Moors,
near Blackburn, making their
way to Accrington’s Broadway
in the town centre as part of the
daytime celebrations of the Rally
Drivers’ Ball.
The event will pay tribute to the
Accrington Pals in the centenary
year of World War One and there
will be a collection in the town
centre to raise money for future
Pals’ projects.
The remarkable vehicles will be
on display in the grounds of the
Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa for the
remainder of the afternoon.
The collection will showcase a
variety of classic racing cars,
including rally cars, several
entrants from the Le Mans 24
hour race and even a Formula
1 car from 100 years ago, all
of which will driving through
Accrington town centre for all
to see.
The circuit will have a ceremonial
start at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel
& Spa with Tim Foster from
“Group B Rally Cars” and Chris
Wood himself. The cars will drive
through to Broadway before
turning back and returning to the
starting point.
During the circuit, there will
be the chance for a photo call
outside Accrington town hall, so
no one will miss the once-in-a-
lifetime opportunity to capture
these spectacular vehicles all in
one place!

people with spinal injuries regain their
independence and mobility.

anything seen in the town before!

An extraordinary
cycling challenge will
take place on Saturday
6th September to raise
money for Chris Wood’s
fundraising efforts.
Star-studded entertainment
at the Rally Drivers Ball will
include a performance by singer
songwriter Alistair Griffin, who
rose to stardom in BBC’s Fame
Academy. Alistair’s 2010 single,
Just Drive, shot up the charts
and caused a Twitter storm
after being featured on BBC1’s
Formula 1 Grand Prix coverage
and played on Chris Evans
Radio 2 Breakfast Show.
Middlesbrough-born Alistair will also be wowing the crowds with his official Tour
de France single, The Road, which propelled him back into the limelight earlier this
year. A duet with Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh, the rousing anthem enjoyed
widespread coverage and the pair appeared on ITV’sThis Morning.
